Pursue Law Degree Or Continue On Unknown Path?

Postby Edmyg » Sat Apr 19, 2014 12:26 am

I have worked for attorneys for over 9 years while going to school. Naturally, being a lawyer is something that is familiar to me and appealing because of my experience but I'm afraid of public speaking and the debt. I began 1 graduate program in social work but quit after 1 year. Now I'm in a completely new sociological-based program but am still not content. It is scary to consider quitting my 2nd attempt at a masters degree. Any insight, advice, thoughts would be appreciated!! Thanks!

If you are afraid of public speaking that would not be good for a lawyer. Do you want to work with people or paper?   Shasha 6 months ago

Pursue Law Degree Or Continue On Unknown Path?

Back in the early years of the 21st century when the financial services industry was expanding rapidly, there was a great demand for lawyers. That demand was met and exceeded, and now there is a glut of lawyers in the labor pool.I would not encourage you to get a law degree unless you can specialize in a field of law that most current lawyers wouldn't qualify for.Avoid the debt, and instead start some sort of small web based/information based business and see where it takes you.(Focus on a product that can be reproduced and resold millions of times. That's where the big money is, vs. services businesses where the maximum you can physically charge for is 24 billable hours in a day).   NanoNano 6 months ago
