Sounds like you only ended up with a speeding ticket. This will not affect your license.

Your license should not be suspended for anything unless you have no license or insurance, there was alcohol involved, or you were cited with gross negligence.

You can go to the DMV and request a print out of your record. It will show you everything you were cited for and any restrictions on your license.

Question about my car accident.?

Postby barclay76 » Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:24 pm

first off driving is a privilege NOT a right, second if you hit the brakes on wet road doing only 35 mph, even with bad tires, losing control the way you said you did and total your car, you had to be going faster than 35 to do a 180 then bounce off another car then spin into a wall.

Question about my car accident.?

Postby rheged » Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:32 pm

Your totaled a car for speeding in the rain and you are worried about your driving rights? Driving is not a right. It is a privilege. You need driver training for you acted reckless and totally irresponsibly. You could have killed someone or even yourself doing this. Are you not more concerned about your lack of driving skills and safety awareness? You can even hardly write correctly. Just how old are you? I suggest you consider your priorities, my young friend. By the way, it is impossible to hydroplane at such low speeds. More than likely the tires lost friction due to the wet conditions or water accumulation or the state of wear of the tires or any combination of those facts. Now you know why the posted speed limit is for day and dry condtions if that was not explained to you now I have. Stopping distance increase dramatically when the road is wet since kinetic energy changes to the SQUARE OF THE SPEED. The formula is 1/2 M or weight of the car times V or speed squared. I take 1800 lbs X 35 X35 = 2.205,000 Joules. If you had driven at 30 MPH that value would have been 1,620,000 Joules or 585,000 Joules LESS. That is quite a difference. And that is what caused such massive damage that destroyed the car. You need driving lessons and training. I do hope your license gets suspended for at least a year.

There are no "driving rights as a citizen of the U.S."

Free speech, voting, privacy, etc., are rights in the U.S.

Driving is not.

Under U.S. law, being allowed to drive is a privilege and not a right.
