I have some questions regarding becoming a private security contractor. I know that in order to become one, you need military experience but i need a better clarification. Here are my questions:
1. If you served 15 years of active duty service in the USMC as an Infantryman (03 field), would you have a good chance of getting hired as a security contractor by companies such as Academi, Triple Canopy, and Dyncorp?
2. Is it necessary to have experience in law enforcement or close protection, or would the years of Infantry in the Marine Corps make up for & cover that? (Since Infantry Marines do provide protection and security in ways)
3. How good would your chances of getting hired be if you were an Infantry for the US Marines for 15 years and a scout-sniper?
4. Could you apply for a job as a security contractor if you still have months left on your contract before your discharge date to get a job right after discharge?
5. I've read this for the qualifications: "Three (3) years of experience.
One (1) year of the three, shall include experience in protective security assignments" would i be qualified if i had 15 years service in the Infantry and as a sniper in the USMC??
6. What else are the qualifications and requirements, and how could i best my chances of being a security contractor? (i.e. Infantry/sniper etc..etc.)
Answers from persons who are knowledgeable and experienced in this field. I am very fit, confident and serious about becoming a security contractor after serving 15-20 years in the Marine Infantry since it would be a natural transition for someone who had done 15+ years in the Infantry. Thanks a lot for the answers everyone..
