1. a - slander. The meaning used today is pretty far removed from the Latin source - traducere meant 'to lead across, bring across, move/transport, carry past in a parade/procession.

2. d - judic-. From Latin judicare, 'to judge, give judgement.'

3. a - MADD. An acronym is something you are able to pronounce as a word.

4. d - finance. Again, a bit removed from the original Latin - finis. That meant 'end, limit, finish' and came to be applied later to the 'finish' of paying off a debt - the settlement.

5. c - turn. From Latin vertere, 'to turn, turn around.'
