The Christian Bible, whats it all about?

Postby fitche » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:01 pm

I am currrently a Christian (as you can probably tell from the picture) but I am going through a hard time, and as I always try to do, I look to the Bible for answers. When I don't know where to go in the Bible I go online and find the Bible verse there. My first search was 'If I die while commiting a sin, will I go to hell?'. It led me to a site that basically said that once you have been forgiven and accepted Jesus into your heart, God gives you the Holy Spirit, and unless you cast it out (Blassphemy of the Holy Spirit) you are pretty much garunteed a spot in heaven. Another site mentions that God treats all sin equally, and no sin is greater than another, because all sin separates us from God, and God can forgive all sin. But can God forgive you if you don't ask for it? What I was taught was that when you ask Jesus into your heart, right then and there, you are forgiven of all your past, present, and future sins, and that when you die, you will appear before God, righteous and Holy, that by Gods Grace, Jesus love, blood and body given on the cross, I could be accepted into Heaven. But yet in Galations 5: 17-21 It says, " For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things WILL NOT INHERRIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD."

BUT HAVEN'T WE ALL DONE THIS? Yet there are people in heaven now. How did the gain access to the kingdom when no one has led a perfect life without any of these? Does this mean only that if I do one of these things KNOWINGLY that I will not be allowed into heaven? What if I repent? Or is it too late because I did it, fully knowing the cost it would be and the price I would pay? Be cause even if it was only true under these circumstances, STILL, we have ALL DONE THIS! I don't understand. If I were to do something that I know I could die doing, that was a sin, and I did it anyways, would God not forgive me, even though I have accepted Jesus into my heart? I am only HUMAN! How can I live up to God's so confusing rules? Please help me understand!

Also if you are not a Christian, I don not need an answer from you, because anything from you cannot help me.

The Christian Bible, whats it all about?

Postby shadrach » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:05 pm

i will always be the first one to defend the english bible.
however, there are more than 50 different translations. some politically biased some traditionally biased,

its all about promoting faith like a grade school or kindergarten text book, to promote and introduce men who do not know God or what righteousness is. those who read it and live by its principles will come to faith and righteousness, without guile if they are honest and sincere

next question is whether the book of mormon is just as good as the bible and was ordained by God >jesus to come forth in our day

God doesn't ask us to be perfect; he knows we will fail. What he does ask is for us to do our best.

Here's the thing: salvation does not make us perfect. Ultimately, we will be glorified and then be perfect, but not yet. Paul once said, "It is no longer I who sin, but the sin within me."

The atonement works like this in regards to sin. Jesus was put up on the cross because he was opposing sin (especially religious hypocrisy; he wasn't a fan). When we dedicate our lives to him, his Spirit comes to live within us. Thus we are identified with him. Thus we died with him. Thus we have died to sin. Thus we can no longer be guilty for them. More importantly, we also rose with Jesus to a new life dedicated to God. We have to then live our new life in accordance with the death we died. But, of course, further sin does not condemn us because it now alien to our essence and we are dead to it.

If you have further questions, please ask.

The Christian Bible, whats it all about?

The answer is simply this: He who believes and is baptized will be saved.

The problem in understanding is not the fact that God's rules are confusing, it is that our own sinful minds cannot comprehend the simplicity of it. We always try to make things more difficult than they need to be. This is the simple answer. There is, however, deeper meaning behind it. And in understanding this deeper meaning, God draws us closer to Himself.

Baptism is where it all begins. We cannot, on our own volition, ask Christ into our hearts. This is done through the power of the Holy Spirit. When we are baptized, we die to sin. We are then raised in Christ! How amazing is this? Christ came for us in fulfillment of the law and the scriptures. He came to fulfill prophesies and carry out the law in totality. Since Jesus is the son of the Father, he was true God. Since he was born of man, he was true man. This is why he was able to redeem us the way he did. If any other were to die on a cross, we would not have been forgiven. Jesus alone has that authority. When he was upon the cross, he became sin incarnate. He took on every sin ever committed. Every sin that was to be committed. And they were crucified with him. (Truly amazing stuff!)

When we have faith that Christ did this to redeem us, it is not our sole belief, but the work of the Holy Spirit that allows us to have this blessed faith. It is not our faith that saves us, but rather the CONTENT of that faith. "For it is by grace that we have been saved, through faith -- And this is not of yourselves, but a gift from God -- not by works, so that no one can boast."

This does not mean that we have license to sin whenever we please. We love because he first loved us. Because of this truth, we desire to do good works. Good works are not the basis of our salvation, but rather the result of it. This is what people mean when they say "faith isn't quite enough." Because of Christ's sacrifice and the Holy Spirit's guidance, we have faith. The content of our faith is the truth of our salvation through Christ's sacrifice. Because of this great love, we desire to do good things!

I sincerely hope this has helped you. May the Lord bless you through your struggles and throughout your life!

Kathy, it is God who calls you, like a fire in your soul. The Holy Bible is a book with the Gospels, the Word of God to help you find your way to God. (There are many versions like King James version, Catholic vulgate, Robert Knox, etc.)

Life is a continuous climb uphill towards heaven. Sins can be considered as faults where you fall down a bit, or stop at a point. To decide for yourself that if you sin, you will not reach heaven is incorrect. You cannot decide you have sinned and so are unworthy of God. No. You must have much more zeal, will power, and effort in order to be a follower of Christ. All mankind and animals please God, since we are all creatures of God, but the Christian is different because he takes up his cross and follows Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. The Lamb is meek like Abel's lamb, and it remained silent even on the alter where fire consumed it. Are you willing to be a follower of Jesus, even unto death on the cross, obedient to God. If so, then this is where you have this deep calling and insight, to make you aware of your soul. You must give up all else to save your soul. Jesus said, "What good is it to gain the whole world, and then to lose your own soul." Be afraid that your soul will be cast into hell eternally if you do not heed the calling that God gives you. Jesus said, "Many are called, but few are chosen." So, it is the same in the parable of the virgins, where the foolish ones enjoyed on the way using brightly lit candles, while the wise ones kept the wick trimmed, and so when the candles of the foolish ones finished, only the wise ones could complete the journey.

The Holy Bible is used by all Christians to help guide others as we have done so for you in these answers you have gone through. But, we would be happy if you heed God's calling, leave all other things behind, take up the Word of God, and live by the scripture of the Gospels. This is the value of the Holy Bible, in that it will teach you all the ways in life, so that you become the children of God, and not just another creature among others.
