Theft In Michigan

Postby bentleigh » Fri Feb 14, 2014 5:09 am

My issue requires legal legislation for that state-of: mich
I'm 17 yrs old (a grownup as it pertains to what the law states) within the state-of mi. i was recently caught shoplifting about $80 value of bracelets from the department store. i was informed i need certainly to visit court for this crime. i do not need my parents discovering. I am likely to university in a couple weeks, thus my handle may adjust.
my concerns are,
1) just how many times must I be prepared to visit court?
2) in mich, there's anything called HYTA for individuals aged 17-21. How do you understand this?
3) must I get a lawyer? or might a public defense be good?
4) to get a public defense, do i pled guilty or not guilty?
5) must I plead guilty or not guilty?
6)Can there be ANY possibility the shop may decrease the costs? I had been thinking about returning and apoligizing for the gas department and administration personally and providing them with a notice. I'm actually REALLY truly sorry for what i did. i read somewhere:
"Theft is generally a municipal crime, and therefore the shop you took from may decline the costs when the situation is not currently determined. If this is actually the situation, you need to likely have an attorney draft a letter to the shop providing reparations and apologies as a swap of the fallen cost. They often take such things as this since it saves them the full time and money of getting togo through the courtroom system."
is this accurate?
I'm likely to michigan state to review pre-med this drop. i guarantee iam a great child, i simply created an extremely bad decision.
please support!
THANKYOU.

Shoplifting In Michigan

DON'T VISIT THE STORE. They could have you arrested for criminal trespass (you probably signed a bit of paper informing you that you're barred in the shop).
Additionally, save your valuable notice till AFTER courtroom. It's yet another bit of evidence against you.
And no, the shop won't drop fees. It's today Their State of Michigan versus you.
You have to employ a Criminal-Defense Lawyer. If you fail to afford one, then get into court, plead Not Liable and request a public defense. Whatever you've, that's who you keep in touch with concerning the HYTA or other diversion programs.
"they often take such things as this since it saves them the full time and money of getting togo through the courtroom system."" Whoever wrote that's an idiot. YOU'RE currently paying the costs in the shape of court costs and penalties.
You'll also obtain a Municipal Need notice in the email. Anticipate $200.
