Under 18 traffic violations. help?

Postby herald » Wed Nov 23, 2011 3:46 am

i'm under 18 and i have 3 speeding tickets, and 1 ticket for a small fender bender. my license is probably going to be taken from me, correct? also, my car has speedometer issues and i, nor my parents knew nothing about it until my second speeding ticket. sometimes the speedometer will work properly and sometimes it won't. do you think i could fight my speeding tickets with proof of the speedometer not working. no smart *** comments please.

Do you know what vehicular manslaughter is? Stop trying to get out of the consequences of your actions and slow the hell down.

Under 18 traffic violations. help?

It might be possible to argue that your tickets were caused by a mechanical malfunction of your vehicle, coming into court with a mechanic's bill and proof that your speedometer was faulty, and is now correct MIGHT give the judge reason to allow a plea of guilty to a lesser charge (equipment failure).

Now that takes care of the two tickets you received before you realized that the speedometer was faulty ... the third one might be a little more difficult to exp-lain ... you already knew your speedometer was not accurate.

Even ONE moving violation ticket is enough to get a graduated license suspended in some states. One speeding ticket and an accident is enough to get suspended in a lot more states.

I'm afraid the judge might decide that you need a lesson on the importance of safe driving ... start planning your life around not having a license in the near future.

Even IF you didn't know about the speedometer problem until your second ticket, why wasn't it fixed before the third one?
Seriously, no judge is going to believe that you didn't know about the speedometer problem. Any observant driver would know immediately that there was a problem if it worked sometimes and didn't other times. That excuse won't get your tickets dismissed.
We can only hope that your license is suspended, you are obviously danger to anyone sharing the road with you.

If you had a issue with your speedometer why did you wait until you had three speeding tickets too worry about it? Seriously the judge is going to ask you this. My guess is No you will have to pay for the tickets especially with all the cities and states hurting for money.

most states have laws written so that no mechanical error is a defense for speeding. you need to have your license yanked for a few years until you grow up a little
