Virginia Senate Sneaks Through Gerrymandering Bill While The Country Watches Inaugeration.wdyt?

I think gerrymandering is a 200 year old practice: Origin of GERRYMANDERElbridge Gerry + salamander; from the shape of an election district formed during Gerry's governorship of MassachusettsFirst Known Use: 1812Gerrymandering is a bi-partisan practice. That means both parties do it. Does the writer of this blog get upset when Democrats do it?And by the way: "the country" did not watch the inauguration.....I'm a nurse, and I had to work. As did millions of other nurses / doctors / police / state troopers / retail clerks / restaurant employees / EMTs and paramedics / business owners trying to make a living / gas station employees / fast food employees / the majority of manufacturing plant employees / and all the other people who keep this country running. Not directed at you - directed at the hype the news media uses to say "while the world watched" some ball game / entertainment award show / and yes, an inauguration. etc.   charlie95 11 months ago

"HAD Marsh been present, however, the state?s Lieutenant Governor, Bill Bolling, WOULD LIKELY HAVE...""the move could potentially eliminate..."So they're guessing what would have happened IF Marsh had been present. They're guessing what would have happened IF Bolling had voted the same way in breaking the tie.And they're guessing the outcome from what actually happened. It's pre-news.I'm not attacking or even commenting on politics, I'm just saying that it's a darned poor story. Nothing actually happened, and certainly nothing that Henry Marsh was shocked or blindsided by.   ibstubro 11 months ago

Gerrymandering is the next issue we need to address if we are to remain a democracy. Repubs have Hijacked the House by a minority vote, and call it a mandate(just as the dems have done in the past).   dejapooh 11 months ago

In the organizations I've been involved in, the tactic of holding votes in someone's absence was largely used for electing someone while the greatest opposition to their election was conveniently absent - the candidate. our motto was "absenteeism is next to volunteerism"   TheLightWorks 11 months ago
