What college course should I take?

Postby donough » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:56 pm

I'm thinking of taking BS Accountancy as my pre-law. I am planning on working first as a CPA then study Law.

I've got my mind set on being a corporate lawyer, not because it's what I want. Actually, I don't know what I want.

I like math and I'm quite good at it. I easily passed Intermediate Algebra. And my weakness is Chemistry. I suck too at Physics. I don't like to take any medicine course, because I get scared of cutting flesh, injections and wounds.

I'm a jack of all trades. I do arts and crafts like sewing and crochet and building something out of clay. I like arts too. I draw but not that good. I'm good at speaking, and I love debates. I influence people with my ideas and opinions, and I like to lead. I've been part of the student body council since third grade and now I'm in my senior year and I am currently the student body President. I am shy though. I'm not outgoing and doesn't befriend almost everyone at school. I'm known in my school as the leader, but quiet and reserved.

I'm curious. I always want to know the reason behind things. I usually find myself deep in thought questioning something. The human mind interests me.

Almost everything piques my interest actually. Though I easily get bored. And I tend to concentrate well alone, but doing things in actual helps me understand more (like experimenting, etc).

I hope I made myself clear and didn't cause any confusion.

The projected job growth for accounting is pretty high. Almost everyone has to pay taxes and there needs to be people who keep track of all that. Secondly, accountants are important treasurers who monitor spending and sales. Accountants have to abide by certain laws and that can prepare you for the bar examination while you are going to law school.

You need to take a philosophy course. If it helps you any, philosophy undergraduates have one of the highest admissions-rates to law schools in the US.

In addition to feeding your curiosity, studying philosophy will expose you to other facets of the law that you might find more interesting. Keep your accounting knowledge base. That's valuable. But make it more meaningful with philosophy.
