After the 5 day letter, the landlord can file for eviction in court. You may be able to pay in court...if the judge allows such...but you will have to pay all back rent, late fees, court costs and any attorney fees that the landlord has. In RI, you will have 24 hours after the court date to vacate the property before the sheriff forcibly removes you.
