What medical supplies would you have in your emergency first aid kit?

Postby ayize » Wed Jul 18, 2012 11:48 am

In case of an extreme emergency, what legal supplies would you have in your emergency first aid kit? I'm attempting to make a "bug out bag" in case of any extreme tragedies or incidents occur at home.

My parents (who are physicians) have told me to buy separate supplies for everything, instead of a pre-packaged "everything you need" first aid kit; as they only contain basic materials. They advised me to have bandages, gauze pads, sawyer extractor for snake bites and venom, suture kit (are they even legal?), alcohol, iodine and some other essential materials.

Any other recommendations/suggestions that are sold legally with a non-prescription?

Since you are not a physician, you should not have any prescription drugs. How about two pair of latex or nitrile gloves? Soap, and maybe water. Alcohol wipes sealed in foil. A tourniquet.
