What type of lawyer for issues with a property management company?

I've caught the property manager and property management company I rent from engaging in unethical practices, violating a couple of state laws and local ordinances (and I have documentation to prove it) while they're at it, and it's already cost me a few hundred dollars.

I've gathered what I have and I'd like to speak to a lawyer about it, but I'm not sure what kind specializes in this sort of law.

What type of lawyer should I be looking for?

The total amount I'm out is about $600 and it will probably hit about $800 at least... will that even be worth it to try and get back, or will a laywer just cost me more then that?

Um, without more information, I'm going to suggest to you that odds are you will not collect anything as a result of your 'evidence gathering" -- because while the property management company "could" be found in violation of the law, the only thing that will happen to them is that they'll have to pay fines to the state and/or local government.

As a tenant, you really don't have any right to collect anything from them - unless it actually says so in your rental/lease agreement - and your only real right is to move.
