Would this be a possible career ?

This would definitely be a possible career. However, while you are working as a corporate lawyer (if you end up deciding to do this) and throughout college, you will want to involve yourself in politics if you really want a shot. Work on campaigns, attend meetings of your political party in your area, and try to be elected onto your town council. Make connections for yourself in politics. However, politics is competitive, so you might want to work on gathering a following before you run for Senate. If US Senate, doesn't work out, you can also be involved in your state's Senate. You also may want to have a blog in which you focus on a political niche, such as a progressive blog focusing on legislature in Illinois so when you apply for a job as a political analyst, you can show that you have some experience writing about politics.

Unless you can LIE Convincingly - you will never make it to the US Senate.
Much less be successful as a lawyer.
