Would you support the legalization of marijuana to a Class II drug?

Postby winwood » Tue Dec 20, 2011 3:09 am

Many states have enacted laws to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes, but the federal law still makes its use a crime. Would you support a move to make marijuana a Class II drug? After all, the money wasted on apprehension, prosecution and punishment could be much better spent on really dangerous drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.

http://socyberty.com/issues/history-of-national-marijuana-prohibition/

Follow the above link to a detailed history of marijuana prohibition in the USA.

In addition please consider this;

Each year in this country 430,000 people die from diseases caused by willful or passive exposure to tobacco products. 100,000 people die from diseases caused by intentional consumption of alcoholic drinks. Since the inception of federal marijuana prohibition in 1937 only one person has died from ingesting marijuana. He choked on it because he tried to eat it while he was being chased by the pigs.

I would support taking it off of the controlled substances list altogether. Right now in the Unites States the national deficit is 2.228 trillion dollars. If marijuana was legalized and taxed the government may very well be able to put a large hole in that deficit. Think back to the alcohol prohibition... it didn't last and neither will the marijuana prohibition. The government knows that they can not control the use of marijuana that is why it is illegal. If the government legalized marijuana it would possibly cause chaos. Think if marijuana were legal what would happen to organized crime. Drug dealers would be out of money. On average in the United States a gram of marijuana goes for anywhere from $5-30 dollars based on potency. Now if the government were to legalize marijuana and sell a pack of joints, with each joint containing 0.5grams, and sell that pack for $40 dollars, that would make a gram of marijuana cost $4. If they(the government) were to do this and sell marijuana at convenient stores and gas stations all over the US they would make billions of dollars a year.If only one person from each state bought 1 pack, the government would be making $2,000. If 100 people from each state were to buy a single pack the government would make 2 million dollars.

If you elect Thomas John McDuffie to presidential office in 2016 I can gaurantee you that marijuana will be legal before 2020! VOTE FOR THOMAS J. McDUFFIE FOR PRESIDENT 2016

It is not dangerous.

Alcohol and nicotine are freely available and are far more dangerous drugs.

The main problem with marijuana is the Government has not worked out a way to tax it.

Many can grow their own and be free of alcohol and tobacco companies.

Why do you think governments condone and finance/profit from gambling and have high taxes on alcohol and tobacco.

The fight is not about the Marijuana it is about the money that the government will lose.
