Am I Eligible For Short Term Disability?

Postby lalla3 » Sun Dec 18, 2011 5:49 pm

i've been looking around for days, but all i can find is information about car accidents and work related injuries. because we live in the greatest country in the world, maybe some of you would have some answers =)

i'm 19 years only, currently unemployed, and have quite the problem. I have 2 bulging disks in my lower back, 1 of them is pressing against my spinal cord, and the other is pinching a nerve; causing muscle loss, and loss of movement in my right leg. i did not injure myself at work, i was not in a car accident, it just happened. i was specifically told not to work, as i could become paralyzed. i can't sit for more than 2 hours at a time, and i can't do any more physical activites. IE: ref hockey, golf, swim, etc.
so, i was wondering if i am eligible (with the information given, i can provide more if you ask) for a short term disability until i get my surgery, which at the earliest will be 6 months.

*EDIT* i have been off work for the last 3 months already, due to too much pain.

I believe that you are eligible but consult with an attorney who specializes in disability cases.

Good health and good luck./
