Court Help: Workers Comp, Contempt, Child?

Postby ingel » Thu Mar 01, 2012 9:18 am

My fiancee is on worker's compensation, that means medical leave and no pay. She owes child back child support but can't do anything til this is over and she files for her disability.
They want her to pay a lot to pay her son. (Like 12000 a year.. that's about how much she made a year, plus pay her child support)... so she can't afford to see her son right now.
In the divorce papers it also says she is allowed to talk to her son at LEAST once a week. It's been over three years (now four years) since she last spoke to her son.
Her ex husband changes his phone number every time she gets it and calls.
We've been calling lawyers all day (We do this once a month, and have been doing it for 6 months).
What can we do? No money for a lawyer, and can't afford to see her son at the moment.

What can we do?

(Btw, don't tell me things like pay child support. HELLO, no money.)

Please do not be rude.

No no no. Workers Comp, you get paid! I know that for 100%. Sue the company for what she is owed, because they OWE her. That's what workers comp is for, and get a lawyer at Legal Aid. It's free.

If it says in her divorce papers that she is allowed visiting rights and hes not letting her see him then he is violating the court order and can go to jail .The same goes for calling him her not being able to pay child support has nothing to do with seeing or talking to him. her x is just being a dick about it. call your local court house if they cant help her then they should be able to find someone who can. GOOD LUCK

go to child support enforcement and make an official request to modify the order. They are required to help either parent upon request, by federal law.
