Do age of consent laws in the United States depend on state citizenship or the state in which you have sex?

it does depend on the state in which you'd have the sex...however, you should also realize that there are also laws concerning taking minors across state lines for unlawful purposes, the unlawful part pertaining to the state where you LIVE as well as any state you might go to...then there are laws which will come into play because your family, i assume, lives where you do, and there could be other criminal as well as civil repurcussions...

it's good that you are concerned...it's possible that your 'friend' could wind up with lifelong criminal record and...AND...a whole lot of years in prison...i don't know all the statutes, of course, but we could be easily talking about him being in his forties or even beyond when he sees his freedom again...
