Do all controlled drugs (CD POM) medicines need to be on a red prescription form...UK?

Postby rushford79 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:18 pm

or is that only a private prescription?

Any Help from anyone who either knows UK drugs laws or know someone or themselves are on or have been previously been prescribed a controlled drug would be great example CD POMs include ritualise and morphine tablets (but not 10mg/5ml morphine suspension as its only a POM) A legal loophole that needs to be sealed I think!

I know this question has been misplaced but I think it is more likely to get an appropriate response as cancer patients are commonly given controlled opiates

Than you in advance

I believe it's merely because it's a private prescription. My mum gets Ritalin (or something similar, but it's a controlled drug), and it's on the standard green NHS GP prescription paper. My gran used to get morphine from her GP (following a hip surgery) and that was also on green paper.

Private prescription forms are listed as pink, look through the link below.

I hadn'tevenm noticed scripts could be issued indifferentt colours, and I have had one written by my dentist, didn't even notice the colour.
