Excessive speeding ticket AZ Violation?

Postby montrel68 » Sat Oct 29, 2011 11:40 pm

I was going 89 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. I am 17, and I was late for a play I am a part of. On my ticket, It reads Violation: exceeding 85 Mph then under neath the box entitled criminal traffic was checked. I had a very positive experience with the cop (highway patrol), and he seemed like a nice, understanding guy. This is a first time offence, i have been driving for one year. First, is there any way that i will be going to jail for this offence? Second, how much will the monetary fine be?

Thanks for all of your help.

Excessive speeding ticket AZ Violation?

This speed is considered unlawful (criminal) in any state! That's the term for the high speed you were driving. You're lucky that you escaped a fatal accident. But I'm not your mother, so I'm not going to preach to you. Call the local police department (Traffic division) and give them the reference number that's on your ticket. Ask them every question you have, and ask again if you have any uncertainty. They may revoke and/or suspend your license if you've been driving for a year of less. Get every detail, each state is different when it comes to traffic laws.

Now, because I AM a mom, and would never want anything to happen to my young adult child, please drive safely and within the speed limit - and keep yourself and others safe.

Do not call your local police department like the girl above me said. If you received the ticket from the Highway Patrol then you need to call them not your local police or sheriffs department or you can go to your states highway patrol website and it will most likely have FAQ's that might help you, and second you will not go to jail for this offense you will just have to pay a fine, lose points off of your license, and you will most likely be attending traffic school. You can be arrested if you are speeding at extreme speeds but it does not happen often, usually that happens when the person stopped has a really bad attitude and argues excessively with the officer.
