External Hard Drive question please help!!?

Postby talbot » Thu Apr 05, 2012 12:01 am

I have a WD 1TB Elements HD and I recently put all of my music and movies onto it from my PC. Now when I go to open the files, they have nothing in them. The folders are still there, but the actual music files are gone. Same with the movies, except they have been turned into SRT and System Information files. When I back out of the folders, right-click and look at the properties, it still says a large amount of Megabytes or Gigabytes. But there is nothing inside! So the memory is still taken up on the HD but my files are gone.

How do I get my music and movies back?

more than likely your files have become hidden from a trojan or virus. this is very common so don't worry. if it says your files are still there in the memory then they are still there don't fret. Did you try right clicking on the folders and checking to see if the hidden box is checked under properties? if it is checked simply uncheck it and your files should show. if this doesn't work there are a few other tricks you can try to get them to show, they use the command prompt though which may be intimidating but the directions are easy enough to follow. Just google it. Good luck!
I posted an example of some alternate ideas to try should that not work.

My pc crashed the day before my final exams and all my notes were locked inside. I went to a computer store and they wanted $100 to fix it. I didn’t have that much cash. I called ExperTalk and their technician used the internet to log into my computer while I watched. He got it to boot up so I could get my documents out. I felt really safe because Expert Talk said if they didn’t fix my computer I wouldn’t pay. I paid $30. The number I called for ExperTalk was +18882669244.
