I have a 2 week old toshiba p855-s5200 64bit windows 7, 8gb mem, 750 gig hd, i7 processor and a 2tb WD usb 3.0 external hard drive. I am aware of the power consumption features and i have already disabled them.
control panel<hard ware and sound<device manager<(expand universal serial bus controllers) < right click generic root hub/generic usb hub<properties<power mamagement<un check allow pc to turn off device to save power.
what else do I do to keep my hard drive on the whole time. while i watching a movie i will turn off (randomly) and the auto play screen will come up if i click play in my gom player it will start from the beginning i can skip to where i was but only for the hard drive to cut off again shortly after. sometimes it will take up to 10 minutes.
keep in mind both lap top and hard drive are brand new from my local best buy from 2 weeks ago im sure its software setting not hardware malfunction.
