Fired... for no reason what can i do?

Postby hewlett » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:28 am

I was doing my work and got brought to the office by my supervisor and his boss told me they were letting me go I asked for an explanation and he said he couldn't tell me why because he would have repricussions if he had I asked if he could tell me anything and he just said rumors well I have been doing my work and everyone elses I've kept my mouth shut haven't said anything unless my work was done and I asked if there was anything else I could do or that needed to be done I've never been late to work or from break I have no points and never even had a verbal warning or was ever told I was doing something wrong! My sister works there also but she is covered by the union and I was still on my 90 day probation period and she had asked the owner of the company why I was fired and he tried saying I just sat around! There are 3 shift supervisors that are unpleased that I am gone and also numerous employees going to bat for me that I did my work and what was asked of me consistantly so I have no idea if I can do anything! But I want my job back I was a hard worker and I enjoyed my work! Can I sue? What can I do someone said its defamation of charachter because the reasons they gave me were untrue and I have plenty of witnesses that will vouch for me that I have always been a very productive employee

Unless they stated in writing that you where not doing your job, you have no grounds to sue. People get laid off everyday due to excess overhead of workers to lack of funds for needed employees. You would never be able to prove in court the reason they let you go.

However as they never wrote the reason for your termination, you can list it as a RIF (reduction in Force) or any reason you wish that is not a blemish on your resume.

You can do nothing. They have the right to let you go for any or no reason in the probationary period. You job hunt as you have nothing to sue for.

It all depends on the reason of termination. "whats on paper" after your research is done you could even receive unemployment.

You were on probation so they have no obligation beyond the 90 days. They can terminate when they want in that time. After that time you would have a contract of employment. You have no come back in this matter.
Also reading through your question it is clear that your English and spelling is not very good. Maybe this could be one aspect of their decision.
Another possibility is that they find that they no longer need you due to lack of orders etc within the company and you are an easy one to dispose of without repercussions on them as employers.
