Greek myth - misjudged women?

Postby parnell » Sat Apr 02, 2011 6:32 am

I am writing a short story and would like the plot to link in with greek mythology, i have tried searching online but can't find anything like this. Could you please give me a greek myth that includes a woman being accused of something she didn't do? Almost as if she is an untrustworthy character and has been wrongfully slandered?

Thanks in advance

Greek myth - misjudged women?

Sorta:

Cassandra was misjudged, but in the sense of being ignored. They treated her as a dismissible child when she knew very clearly what was about to happen.

The big one I can think of exactly along your lines pertains to Sita of the Ramayana. Her husband basically kicked her aside out of suspicion that she was not faithful despite her sacrifices, and she (dutifully?) left him per his wishes.
