Gun laws? So can a non violent offender own a gun in OHIO or not?

a Friend of mine, about 10 years ago commited a non violent, non drug related felony. it was nearly a misdemeanor. They list it as a M4/F5. max sentence is 12 mnths . according to the questions on the papers he filled out at ***** sporting goods, yhey asked had he ever been convicted of a felony in which he could of been sentenced to MORE THAN 12 MONTHS IN JAIL, or been convicted of any domestic violence. he answered NO to BOTH because it says that his maximum penalty for his crime of forgery, would of or could of been a MAX of 12 MNTHS an the question was for MORE THAN 12 MNTHS! so he applied and was told his license got DELAYED?? not a denial, but what could this DELAY be? the gun is a rifle for hunting, not a hand gun. incase this matters?

Ohio

No matter how you spin it, (non-violent drug-related felony, nearly a misdemeanor), it's a felony conviction and will disqualify him. It is delayed until they inquire/investigate the circumstances.

No. He was convicted of a felony, so he may not possess or purchase a firearm. Period.
