How Can You Lift The Blades On A Lawn Mower So It's Not So Close To The Ground?

Postby Illanipi » Tue Feb 04, 2014 5:25 pm

I went to mow my lawn yesterday and the blades seamed really close to the ground. I don't remember it being like. Dust was flying, and it was pretty much cutting all the way to the dirt and leaving no grass. I've mowed my lawn many times, and I don't remember it being like this.

Look for the lever There should be a lever or adjustment contrivance to adjust the height of the lawnmower.  Every lawnmower has one. severian 79 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Sounds like someone lowered your mowing deck... Unless you have a reel-type mower(which should also have some adjustment), you should have a bracket at each wheel on a standard rotating blade mower. You should see a series of holes(they may be hidden under the deck) on the bracket and a pin with a handle stuck into one of the holes.  This is your adjustment.  Move the lever---might be a little sticky at first and you should see that corner of the deck move up or down.  Adjust it so the deck is as high as it will go. Do the same for each wheel. You may have 'skinned' your lawn and I would recommend that as it recovers, you allow the grass to get a little higher for your next few cuts.(A longer leaf blade will be matched by deeper root growth.)
