How long after u left a job do they have to send u your paycheck?

i left a week ago, pay period ended friday, so i have to get my check within how many days?

The reason i ask is they said i must turn in my uniform shirts in order to get my paycheck, and i had lent a uniform shirt to another coworker, who ended up going to jail (yeah it was a messed up workplace), so i will never get the shirt back so i cant return that one.

I checked our state law and they cant hold a paycheck until you return company uniforms, so i am in the clear, they have to send me my check. Im afraid they wont though, because of the shirt.

So how long should i wait until i should file a claim with the labor dept?

They can certainly deduct your shirt price from your check.

Instead of getting all defensive, call them and ask how to handle the situation.

in MOST (but not all) states the employer MUST pay you on the normal payday for the last pay-period you worked....

in MOST (but not all) states the employer does NOT have to mail you the check, you must pick it up as normal......

in MOST (but not all) states the employer can NOT charge for the uniform,
and in the few states where they can the charge you that charge/deduction can NOT take your wages below minimum wage for the week of the deduction...

so
on the normal payday for the last pat-period you worked you go into work and ask for your check at the regular time....

The problem is not the company you worked for, the problem is YOU so no claim with the labor department will help you because there is nothing to help.

Go to your employer (in person) and tell them what happened to your uniform shirt, and turn in the other shirts. They will probably ask you to pay for the shirt you gave away in error (that was your mistake that you gave it away). And they will either accept your payment or deduct it from your check and then write you a check while you wait for the balance owed to you. They aren't holding your check, instead you are being irresponsible in not complying and in not attempting to solve the problem you caused.

Call them, say you're going there, that you'd pay for the shirt, and you'd like to pick up your paycheck and they will tell you when it's available, then merely pick it up.

You haven't even given them enough time to cut a check and you already want to file a claim with the labor dept. Forget that, it's a stupid idea.

The law is they have to pay you on the next scheduled pay date. You have to arrange to either pick up the check or ask them to mail it. Most employers who have uniforms they want back will ask you to pick it up and turn in the uniforms.

They can send you a bill for the shirt and you will have to pay it because you gave the shirt away.

So it is simple just and go and return the uniforms of your company and get your pay check. This is the easiest method.
