We have allowed someone to park their mobile home on vacant property that they own. It is
supposed to be a temporary situation. How long are they allowed to stay before they can
claim squatter's "rights"

It depends on the situation. Some had the land for 40-50 years. The government will be the one to decide on that case. Squatters often claim rights over the spaces they have squatted by virtue of occupation, rather than ownership; in this sense, squatting is similar to (and potentially a necessary condition of) adverse possession, by which a possessor of real property without title may eventually gain legal title to the real property.

They can't. As long as you know about it, and you consent to them living there, it remains your property.

"Squatter's rights" (in the US) is if they live there without you knowing about, maintain it as their own property (including paying taxes on it), and have done so for so many years (exact amount depends on the laws for that state).

*EDIT* - This doesn't mean you can kick them off your property at any time you want. You might have to go through an eviction process to do so.
