If you had disputed a charge as not yours, or if the account (whether it's yours or not) is reporting as a negative which you, or a CRO that you hired to clean your reports, tried to dispute it as not your account , then yes, they have the right to request a copy of the police report that you file/filed for ID theft.

If a charge on the account, or the account itself, is not yours then you should file a police report for ID theft and send Chase a copy of it.

If the account and all of the charges made on it is truly yours then I would not recommend filing a police report for ID theft as it would be fraud on your part and doing so can only make things end badly.

If you, or someone you hired, had never disputed a charge or the account with Chase or with the CRA's as not your charge/account then contact Chase and ask them why they are requesting the police report.

If you have an account on your credit report that you did not open and you dispute it with the credit bureaus then yes, you also need to file a police report to show that you are serious and that yes, this is identity theft.

The lender whose account you are disputing (Chase Morgan) has the right to see that police report. This way they can cooperate with the police investigation that is looking for the person that opened that account behind your back and that person is being charged with the crime of identity theft.

If it's on the credit report, just dispute it. They have 30/45 days to respond or it comes off.
