I work for coca-cola as a merchandiser. I was taking my break infront of a rite aid drug store because i just finished stocking our coca-cola products at that location, when a bum that looked like he was either crazy or drunk walked up to me. He stopped right infront of me. He smelled like poop and urine. He said hi and i greeted back. Hes then tells me he likes mexicans. I said that was cool. (i guess he said that because im mexican). He then takes a dollar bill he said was rare and told me hes richer than me because money isnt everything. I agree, trying to ignore him because he was getting up in my face, he smelled and was stumbling. He starts telling me he knows some spanish and asked if i wanted to hear some, i said sure and he starts saying all the bad words you can say in spanish. All of the sudden he goes for a punch. He got me just a little since i dodged it. I came back with a kick to his abs because i didnt want to punch him. hes dirty. I guess i took the air out of him because he dropped. I stepped away and went back in the store but the manager told me to leave. I got in my car while the bum was saying "is that all you got wet back". I went to target to continue my route when my manager called and said i assaulted a regular customer at a rite aid i tried to explain but he told me to clock out. I did and went to the coca cola plant to speak to manager . He fired me on the spot. All i did was take my break and some random crazy bum came at me. I was still on the probationary period. Is there a way i can get my job back or is what he did legal. Can you get fired for defending yourself? I liked my new job a lot it helped pay for bills and school, plus more!
