Is There A Free Online Spanish Class?

Postby Preruet » Wed Jan 22, 2014 12:02 am

I read this on CNN awhile back in an article "Suprising things for free":     "The BBC offers top-notch online and MP3 lessons in languages familiar and obscure, including French, German, Portuguese, Mandarin, Greek, and Urdu"   http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/   http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/   It has activities, MP3 downloads, and so on.   It looks very cool.

Is There A Free Online Spanish Class?

here's two ideas for you I don't know anything about the Barnes and Noble one, but there are lots of free classes online.  Here's one: We've helped millions of people learn to speak Spanish, at their own pace, in the comfort of their own homes. We have everything you need to start learning Spanish right now. Online lessons, quizzes and tests, audio drills with native speakers, and our flagship product Camino del éxito. Here's another idea for you: your public library. I've been getting the(very expensive)  Pimsleur Spanish CDs from them. They are awesome CDs and they are FREE through the library.  I never thought of getting language CDs from the library until I saw a guy checking out a huge package of French lessons.   MissBert's Recommendations Spanish I - 2nd Rev. Ed.: Learn to Speak and Understand Spanish with Pimsleur Language Programs(Comprehensive) Amazon List Price: $345.00 Used from: $125.00 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5(based on 54 reviews) Spanish II, 3rd Ed.(Compr.) [CD] Amazon List Price: $345.00 Used from: $134.95 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5(based on 12 reviews) Spanish III - 2nd Ed.: Learn to Speak and Understand Spanish with Pimsleur Language Programs(Comprehensive) Amazon List Price: $345.00 Used from: $108.89 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5(based on 9 reviews) Conversational Spanish: Learn to Speak and Understand Spanish with Pimsleur Language Programs(Simon & Schuster's) Amazon List Price: $49.95 Used from: $28.65 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5(based on 26 reviews) Pay this....or go to the library and get them for free. Pam_I_Am said: 1 I should have added this to my answer: I don't have to be AT the library to use their Rosetta Stone subscription. I can register from home, using my library card number. 78 months ago

Check with your public library. My public library has an on-line subscription to Rosetta Stone, a listening-based course with proven excellent results.  Spanish is actually an option in two different ways: they offer both Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Central/South America.  I've just started the Central/South America class through them and feel like I'm learning something.  Of course, their class carries no credit of any sort, and there is no on-line teacher to work with.  But there is also no commitment to stick with it if you don't like it.  So, if it's available to you, I'd definitely give it a try!
