Labour the second time around question!?

Postby sampson » Tue Dec 27, 2011 2:49 pm

Well as prob most pregnant people know everyone else seems to know better when someone is pregnant lol especially the in laws. But i've already had a baby so i just don't listen lol. Anyway i have read that the second time around the baby may not 'drop' until you are in actual labour? If this is true i don't know but i've read it lots of times.
Anyway i'm saying to them oh ive got 4 weeks to go till due date but it could be earlier as the midwife said she's all ready head down in the right position, but she never said she was engaged, although i feel pressure down below every now and again then it goes away but if you looked at me i appear high anyway. As they have also pointed out various times lol.
So then they said no you wont have her before 4 weeks you will definitely go over due because you did last time and this happens all the time, and your too high you haven't even dropped yet.
So i am confused! Can i go into labour even though i am high? I'm 36 weeks + 2 days. (and fed up now lol)

Labour the second time around question!?

Well thing is with labour, you never know what it will be like and it won't always be the same as the first one. Sometimes the baby is very cooperative and gets down low in the pelvis and engages ready for labour andd other times they take a bit longer.

I have known people to be overdue then have subsequent babies earlier than their due date. Just depends when the baby is ready to come out and when the body is sufficiently ready for labour. Obviously other things have to happen for labour to occur other than the baby being in the 'right' position.

The baby may be lower down now but just not fully engaged in your pelvis yet which is why the pressure eases off sometimes. I would say that you are getting close to labour but it could be any time within the next 4 weeks. She will come when she is ready not when the midwife says. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
