Question about Labour Laws in BC?

I live in Ontario, but a family member asked me a question about the labour laws in BC, and I tried to google it but can't find a solid answer.

My family member works in a store, working at 4 days a week, sharing shifts with 2 other women. The owner of the company was recently hired a new girl (who's only there for 6 months ; friend of the family) and he told the workers he wants to have this new girl be there 3 days a week, so he's cutting hours from the other two girls (not my family member) who've been there for years.

I'm not sure if that's legal in BC, or if theres something the other two workers can do, but I was just wondering if anyone can offer some advice, I can pass along to my family member.
