I am posting this question for my Mother who had all four of her wisdom teeth pulled out last Friday. None of them had actually came through yet, and all were impacted and two infected. Needless to say they were cut out if that makes a difference to the problem.
The swelling in her cheeks were horrible after surgery, but most times it would be... however the swelling increased greatly, and by Sunday evening her one cheek was swollen to the size of a grape. She went back in to the dentist on Monday, he confirmed that she had a blood clot in her cheek? He claimed this was relatively normal and nothing to be overly concerned about, that it would go away. By yesterday afternoon the "blood clot" was the size of a baseball, and she is in TERRIBLE pain. My dad took her to emergency, and they told her that they couldn't do much for her, except to give her pain medicine, and to make an appt. to go back and see her dentist asap. She has an appointment tomorrow morning with her dentist, however I am weary of him and his staff. So is my family at this point. I have googled a million times, and can't find this "common problem" related to teeth pulled anywhere.
We have taken pictures of the blood clot and all of its stages, it is also infected now at this point as well. Should we be worried of malpractice? Has anyone heard of such a thing? And info would be extremely helpful... I feel as if something is obviously very wrong here.
Thank you kindly for your time,
RW
