Medical MalPractice Case?

Postby jomei69 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:31 am

If someone age 51 suffers a stroke due to being on birth control pills beyond the age that is considered safe to use them - about ten years ago it was found that taking these beyond a certain age (35 or 40 I believe-) could cause a stroke. And the patient questioned that at every visit and was told they had no risk factors and need not worry about it; could the doctor who prescribed them be liable for pain and suffering?

No.
You are responsible for reading the medication documentation. That is why it is given to you.
And you expect us to think you did not know there was an increased risk of stroke when using birth control. What kind of hole do you live in?

Too complex to answer here. Newer data also suggests that BCP are safe to menopause, depending on past histories.
