New York Labor Law Question?

Since my job does not want to most the labor laws concerning a break, what I heard is that in New York State you are not allowed to work more than 6 hours without a break and not more than 5 consecutive hours within that 6 hour limit without a break. This makes some sense, but it is accurate?
How do I find out?
