No insurance and car accident?

Postby curney13 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 5:49 am

Hi I am from Fresno,CA I got into a car accident in nov. 2011 while driving to school, and just receive my bills. I just canceled my insurance the week before I got into the car accident so, I have no insurance, the cop came and everything but I didn't get a ticket, the car in front of me just step on brake very hard out of no where there was no car in front or at the side we were going 50mile(the speed that was given), and couldn't brake in time, we had no witness and since I have no insurance and i hit them from the back I am the wrong one...the next day i got a call from there insurance and two letter and that was it, 8 month after the accident bills came, I am a college student, i have no parents, no place to live, I work at McDonald, and i get paid enough for my insurance for my car right now only to get me to work and just spent the night at my brother place...I want to pay the bills but I can't at the moment if i were to let it go to collection than I believe that my license will be taken away and i can't drive to work anymore, I have never gotten a ticket before and this is my first accident in all those four years that I have been driving...I am scare of not paying for it and at the same time if i pay for it i won't have Enough for insurance and can't get to work and school...If i don't pay for it what will happened and if they take me to court whats going to happend, I heard from many people that insurance is just scaring you to pay the bills back but at the same time im scare for not paying it too...

To make your long story short - yes, you have to pay.
If you don't pay, you'll lose your license and you still won't be able to get to work and school. You can also be sued.

Of freaking course you have to pay ! You drove without insurance and now you are being sued. If you don't pay, you can be thrown in jail, you can have your wages garnished, you can lose your license. You A R E in a whole bunch of trouble. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for anyone who does that. You made your bed, now lay in it.

Are you legal?.
