Noise laws in Michigan? Kids and basketballs...?

I suffer from severe migraines like, all the time. I've seeked medical help and whatever but like, nothing works.

Well, so. I've been living in my house for over twenty years and in 2009 or 2010, can't remember, some arrogant family moved in next door and invite kids over all the time and they play basketball for hours. The constant hitting of the freaking ball is right outside my damn window.

I live in a well off neighboorhood where this stuff shouldn't be going down. Haven't they heard of playgrounds? parks? recreational centres? [we have a super nice one]

Anyways, I live in Michigan. I've called the cops. They said that 'kids playing basketball' is a totally cool and normal noise and as long as they're doing it during the day then it's okay.

That's total BS, in my opinion. It's noise. On days when I /do/ feel well I'd like to be able to do everything to avoid a freaking migraine... and when I do have them, I don't want to hear this freaking crap outside my window. [moving rooms isn't an option]

There's got to be a loop hole or something because I can't seriously have to move out of my damn house because of some arrogant d-bags. If we wanted to live near a park/playground, we'd live by one.

They have the right to use their property in any legal way they see fit. Playing basketball is legal.

Get some ear plugs.

Well maybe you should go find a hole in butt effing egypt and stay there forever where there isn't so much as a peep. You sound just as arrogant as the people you are describing and if had portrayed your story in ANY kind way at all, I might be inclined to help you. whatever happened to just ask nicely? oh right, you aren't nice. Deal with it, or move.

You've already asked the police and been answered. I know of no place that requires quiet during normal hours (usually 7 am to 10 pm), and playing basketball probably wouldn't exceed the noise bylaws even after that time.

Children playing is a permitted use in ANY residential neighborhood.

Suck it up or move, I guess.

No loophole. They are within their rights to play all day. Your migranes are your problem.
