NY state rental laws? What are my options?

Ok I signed a lease with someone in NY for a 4 bedroom house starting Feb 1st. The rent is 1000. I would pay half plus utilities.
I live in PA and this place is 40 min away in NY state. My sons father (my ex husband) told me Im not allowed to take my son out of the state. I called the courthouse and indeed that's an actual law:/ Even though I have full custody and he hasnt seen him since LAST Easter. My sons father will not budge. Hes an a$$.
Now what?? I already signed the lease! Am I on the hook for half of the rent plus utilities? What are my options?
I dont want to ruin the relationship between my friend and I.

You have 2 choices. You can go to court and petition the judge to allow you to move with your son, which he is likely to do or you can ask your friend to try and find someone to sublet your half of the house to and pay your part of the rent until then.
