That may be true. But what with the Republicans alienating Latinos, Women, blacks, the poor, college students, unions, companies like GM who they wanted to toss out, and so many others, why aren't they trying to give anyone anything for their votes? At least DO something for the PEOPLE to get votes? They can't even manage that.Perhaps because they have money pouring in from other countries thanks to Scotus, as well as corporations, and deals being made in back rooms that include rigging votes and denying voters.Maybe they just don't think they have to even think about the people to get where they want to be, as usual.   Skylight 19 months ago

Because this is America, dude. Haven't you ever heard of: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"?   hipnek 19 months ago

Actually, it's a helmet. Protects me from racist hatred, illogical suppositions(illegals will be voting) and ignorant stupidity(everyone will say they came here as a kid) - like no one is going to be checking school records and military service records. And also keeps me from bursting into laughter at how little some people understand about how politics work.   TurboB 19 months ago

It was not so long ago that all our relatives came here without thought of it being legal or illegal. My grandfather came here in the late 1800's from England when he was fourteen. I do think Obama's move on this one was correct, as long as it pertains to those with NO criminal record. These kids/young adults have evidently worked hard, and according to the rules, for the right to be here. They should be allowed to stay and apply for either green card status or citizenship.Did Obama just buy votes for his re-election? Of course he did! The friends, teachers, and employers of these people can vote, even if these people technically cannot. But probably a number of them do, anyway, as our voting accountability is a mess everywhere. If Obama was not interested in buying votes of illegals, his administration would not be suing Florida for trying to clean up their voter registration roles, and would not be refusing Florida a list of citizens. Nor would his administration be refusing to enforce border protection to our south. He is definitely trying to buy votes, legally or illegally. That is a given and that is his history.   tuppence 19 months ago

I suggest you take all my statements the exact same way I take yours! You won't be so frantic to get the last word, then.   TurboB 19 months ago

These kids were brought over; they did not come here on their own. What would their fate be if deported? They have cooperated with everything we have asked of them in this country. How could they, on their own, as children when they came, have applied for a green card or citizenship? That would have been up to their parents. It's a difficult situation, however you look at it.   tuppence 19 months ago
