What do you think DHS confirms cheaper to deport every illegal alien than allowing them to stay?

Postby webb » Fri Apr 08, 2011 6:41 am

On December 3, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs, Nelson Peacock, responding to request from several U.S. Senators, including Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), wrote: “Our conservative estimate suggests that ICE would require a budget of more than $135 billion to apprehend, detain and remove the nation’s entire illegal immigrant population.”

In July 2010, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) released the results of a study which examined the costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local levels. The study found that U.S. state and local governments shell out $84.2 billion annually in various services (law enforcement, schools, social services, etc.), with California taxpayers alone, spending $21 billion on illegal aliens every year.

The same study found that $29 billion is spent every year in federal funds on illegal aliens.

So, while it would cost a one-time fee of about $135 billion to deport every single illegal alien in the country, it is actually a bargain considering the fact that it already costs us $113 billion annually to keep them here.

Its always funny to me that pro illegal alien supporters will say that FAIR is an unreliable source and they will use La Raza and other pro illegal alien web sites to try to prove their case..
The first thing we must do is secure our borders then stop the companies from hiring illegal aliens ,no job .no money ,no place to live and no handouts. That will encourage illegal aliens to self deport. The hard core illegal aliens could then be rounded up and deported once and for all. American taxpayers fund the government ,thats our money and we should demand it be used for a good purpose and deportation is it .

They kill me with that, "Your source is not reliable so your information is false, " crap. They will quote far left sites like mediamatters and huffingtonpost as the unadulterated truth, though. We all know it would be cheaper to just deport them all; but since when has those who fight to keep them here ever cared about expenses and government waste?

It will never get enforced. The Obama white house sued AZ for trying to enforce federal immigration laws. Think.......Obama sued AZ for trying to protect the borders of the US. Anyway, those illegals are his voting base.

It's about time they stopped hitting the crack, and smoking the weed so they could wake up to the reality of the situation.

Actually the FAIR study, and others, did not include a great deal of illegal aliens' costs. Illegal aliens have cost US taxpayers over $1 Trillion per year (net of any taxes they've paid) each year since 2002. It is vastly cheaper to detain and deport every illegal alien than it is to allow them to remain for one year or more.

Actually, it would not be necessary to detain and deport every last one of them. There are ways to make them go home at their expense! There are ways to discourage & dissuade people from violating immigration laws to begin with! It would not cost the US $135 billion to have all immigration-law violators depart or be deported. Announcing a major crackdown on illegal aliens will send about half of them scurrying home within 30 days. It can actually be quite easy to get rid of the majority of immigration-law violators in very short order!
