Oh yah, the Constitution. The one everyone worships as the unmitigated Law of the Land. Lets see how precious it really is. Here's something Bush said about it:President Bush screamed "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face, it?s just a goddamned piece of paper!"Under his administration, the government has engaged in inhumane treatment of prisoners that amounts to torture ? AND WHEN CONGRESS PASSED LEGISLATION TO BAN SUCH TREATMENT, HE DECLARED HE WOULD SIMPLY INTERPRET THE LAW IN HIS OWN WAY. Although the Constitution says treaties are the "supreme law of the land," THE PRESIDENT HAS ABROGATED THEM ON HIS OWN. And, we now know, he ordered a secret program of electronic surveillance of Americans without court warrants. Here's another gem that puts the Constitution in perspective from our last president:"President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, ASSERTING THAT HE HAS THE POWER TO SET ASIDE ANY STATUTE PASSED BY CONGRESS WHEN IT CONFLICTS WITH HIS INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION"http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/04/30/bush_challenges_hundreds_of_laws/Our beloved Constitution looks like a slice of Swiss Cheese at this point. Its a joke. Anything dichotomous to its malleable form need only be re-interpreted, according to our previous president. So, how cares? Why hold Obamacare up to a joke?
