Assuming you win a judgment against the surgeon and/or the hospital? Lowest would probably be a dollar, showing the court (with or without a jury) did not consider the damage serious but that malpractice occurred.

Upper limit? Many millions, if the court finds gross malpractice with inappropriate oversight and little or no attempt to correct or resolve the problem.

You don't want to get your legal advice here, though. Malpractice lawyers do not charge the client, only take a share of any judgment, so I recommend you consult an attorney. If you can't get one to take your case, that suggests it's not winnable or is likely to pay very little.

It depends on the state; most now have caps on damages.
