Why do men HATE dealing with mean, judgemental in-laws & avoid them? Men take bad in-laws personally. why?

Men do NOT toelrate in-laws or families of girlfriends/wives being jerks to them well at all. They get angry & feel their egos hurt deeply. Why?

Its like a screening/put on blast process. Intimidating at times, having to find a way to relate to subjects...having to laugh at non funny things/awkward. All these variables and more. Takes years to actually get over, and some people just give up, and move far away from in laws.
