Why so serious ?
...because those people base their arguments on their emotions. Banning guns makes them feel better.

Why do most gun lovers think that libs think that controlling guns through waiting periods and quantity restrictions means there won't be any more murders? Of course, there will be murders. Of the tad over 9,000 Americans killed each year by guns, the vast majority are killed by people they know during a period of intense emotional upheaval. Making guns a little more difficult to get - especially a 30 day waiting period - means a few of those potential victims will be spared. During 30 days, a slip of the tongue, a word to a minister or a friend, a landlord noticing something, etc. could make the difference between life and death for a bunch of people. Keeping track of who's a loony or outfitting an army or supplying a Mexican cartel by buying multiple guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition can save a few lives.

The question is: How many guns do you need and why can't you wait to buy them if waiting is a potential life-saver? There's a reason that the Mexican cartels do their weapons shopping and are more of a problem in Arizona and Texas than in California with its tough gun laws.
