Workers Compensation for Casual Staff in WA?

Postby regenweald » Fri Jun 08, 2012 3:05 am

Hi, I'm 21 and have been working on and off in different roles at my job in WA for about 3 years. Until recently I was working 16 hour weeks as a casual staff member.

3 weeks ago I slipped, fell and broke my elbow and wrist. I went to the emergency room that night and have been seeing a doctor ever since, who has told me I am unfit for work for at least two more weeks. Problem now is that my company has told my manager they will only pay my medical bills, not my lost wages, as I'm only a casual,

As I usually work three jobs to pay my bills and have been unable to work for three weeks, with two more weeks with no pay looming, this is a serious issue for me. Can anyone tell me whether or not I am entitled to lost wages, many websites say I am but one or two say I'm not.
