Am i going to scar my child if i have family watch her for 2 nights while i am in hospital having my 2nd child?

i am going in to have a c-section with my 2nd child I asked my in-laws to watch my 1 year old while me and my hubby are in the hospital. They are freaking out on me saying that i am going to scar my daughter that having her stay the night for 2 nights is wrong and i am a bad mother for even considering it.

You have GOT to be joking. Good lord. Find someone else to watch your daughter if that's how they are going to be about it. It's not normal for grandparents to act like that. Sounds like they just don't want to deal with the responsibility of caring for her for a couple of days.

You will NOT scar your child, and it's ridiculously ignorant to even suggest such a thing is possible.

cant you ask someone else to have her? and no your not a bad mother, the first time my son stayed with y husbands dad and step mum was when i had my 2nd son, and he had to stay for 2 nights too, it was horrible for me but my son didnt seem to give a damn lol, my son was 18 months old when his little brother came along and it didnt effect him at all im sure your daughter would be fine good luck with the c section x

Ridiculous of the in-laws to even say that. You will not scar her... you need to take care of you.

What else do they expect you to do? Believe me, you're not going to be able to care for a newborn AND a one year old in the hospital immediately after having a c-section. Your in-laws sond like very unreasonable (and delusional) people. What kind of grandparents wouldn't jump at the chance to keep one of their grandchildren overnight? And grandparents are supposed to be 'the next best thing' to mom and dad. Why would they think leaving her with them would be scarring? They sound like nuts to be giving you guilt about this.

Get someone else to watch her. That's really nonsense. Have they ever watched her for two nights before??
There will be no harm done in not being with your oldest while you go have the baby.
