How to get a reckless driving charge reduced to improper driving?

I got charged with reckless driving (general) and i live in prince william county Virginia. I got into an accident with another car and hit him from behind but it was at very low speeds and not really any damage but my right side of my bumper cracked very little and his back bumper is just a little scuffed...no dents. The cops said i will probably get it reduced to "improper driving" bc the accident was not serious at all. But note tht the guy i hit, was actually breaking the law to begin with because he was trying to go onto the shoulder to squeeze onto the turning lane past the traffic, and basically swerved back into the lane with no signal. What do you think ? and the summons they gave me at the accident for the court date is the only thing tht i need? i wont be mailed anything ?

No, you won't be mailed anything. Just show up in court on the court date that's listed on the ticket. On that day in the court house, check for your name on the docket and go to that courtroom listed.
