Is There A Maximum That A Nanny/housekeeper Is Allowed To Work Per Week, And Do They Require Overtime By Law? (ny State)

Is There A Maximum That A Nanny/housekeeper Is Allowed To Work Per Week, And Do They Require Overtime By Law? (ny State)

Postby Winwood » Sat Feb 08, 2014 2:56 am

I am considering hiring a legal housekeeper/nanny. If she agrees to work more than 40 hours per week(such as 45 or 50 hours) for a certain weekly salary(which is MUCH higher than the minimum wage), what is the employment law? Legally, am I supposed pay her time and a half for the hours over 40? Or is the agreed-upon weekly salary sufficient to address the overtime laws?
