I wouldn't call Normally I'm the type of person to suggest taking the high road in all situations. But if your feud has elevated to the point of litigation and/or legal council, the you shouldn't open the door right now - not for a greeting card holiday like this(not to say I don't love this greeting card holiday!). If you call your mom, you're opening yourself up to more degradation and attacks. What else will she say? Would she really just smile and say "thank you"? I doubt it. Instead, if you wish to acknowledge the holiday, then a kind email greeting card will do the trick.(Alternately, I think a paper greeting card in the mail would've been the supreme route here, but in a time pinch, email will be almost as good.) This way you can send her a pleasant Mother's Day message without giving her a stump to stand and cause more grief. And she may absorb the kind thoughts better if she doesn't have to "react" to them right away. Everybody wins. Happy Mother's Day to you!
