Why doesn't "Admiralty Law" apply to Somali Pirates?

For the last 600 Years Admiralty Law has been accepted Maritime Law worldwide. Admiralty Law is very clear that Pirates caught in the act may be summarily tried by the officers of the ship which apprehended them and if found guilty, hanged. Now suddenly Admiralty Law is ignored!! WHY?

Why do liberals always try to get violent criminals out of prison early so they can kill more people?

For instance, I was reading about the case of school shooter Kip Kinkel, who famously murdered two of his classmates in 1998 and injured 24 others, and was sentenced to at least 111 years in prison.

Unfortunately, liberals began making absurd arguments that the sentence was "too harsh."

Who ARE these liberal morons?

Do they seriously want a school shooter released back into regular society?

Why would an attorney who has gone through three years ...

Does maritime law cover pontoon rental from a company in Fl? Told pontoon damaged & maritime law always wins!?

4 sisters on vacation in Florida -- all professionals rented pontoon ... returned pontoon & later that day contacted & told they had done $2200 damage -- cracked the motor ... they disputed this and were told "fine just go home and hire an attorney ... we are under maritime law and we always win our lawsuits .. the company then said they would settle for $1000. The older sister put the $1,000 on her ...

Maritime Security in US Coast Guard?

How hard would it be to do this? What I want to do is law enforcement. And to have it be combined with the sea is like the coolest thing in my opinion.
I'm in school right now. Doing a double major in Criminal Justice and Criminal Forensic Studies.
Anyway, I'll be out of school in around 3 years. I'd have to go to OCS for 17 weeks. Would I be able to go to ...

Here is a possible business proposal for a cruise ship. What do you think?

How about working with an existing cruise ship, and turn part of the ship into a full medical facility.

It would consist of some of the best doctors in the world, where people could still have the best health care privately. You could even buy private health insurance after a full check up with the medical staff. Many seniors may want to just live on it since they can travel the world, with the comfort ...

Will the world condemn the Israeli pirates for boarding the Turkish aid ships in international waters?

Why should these pirates be allowed to do what ever they like? The Israeli governments actions are illegal and they must be dealt with under maritime law. What is it that makes the Israelis treat others like crap and expect to get away with it?

Why do so many lawyers spend so much effort advocating on behalf of evil, guilty, worthless criminals?

Let's be clear - I am not talking about attorneys during the initial trial phase. Everyone is entitled to a rigorous defense.

I, myself, am also an attorney. Although, I work in a narrow field of admiralty law which involves civil law, and does not really implicate criminal law.

I am talking about cases where guilt has been established, and yet - despite all reason - attorneys continue to file appeals, or appeal on "Constitutional" ...

I'm a lawyer - not a criminal law lawyer, though. Why do people assume I know about traffic tickets or DUIs?

Like family members and stuff, or certain people I meet.

My ENTIRE practice is focused on a VERY NARROW class of Jones Act admiralty and cabotage claims. That is ALL I DO.

Aside from some vague crimlaw and criminal procedure stuff I had to learn for the bar exam, I know NOTHING of criminal law. I don't even practice in the local courts. My work is done out of federal courts. I took one crimlaw ...

Dignity Boat attacked?

The Dignity, a Free Gaza boat on a mission of mercy to besieged Gaza, is being attacked by the Israeli Navy in international waters. The Dignity has been surrounded by at least half-a-dozen Israeli warships. They are firing live ammunition around the Dignity, and one of the warships has rammed the civilian craft causing an unknown amount of damage. Contrary to international maritime law, the Israelis are actively preventing the Dignity from approaching Gaza or ...
